[DL-T/K] A Cold Welcome

<Prania, the new queenrider, Kattibrie, would like to speak to you in the
warrenlady's office,> Gwieth spoke.

Prania set down the tea cup she was drinking from. <Did she say why?>

<There is a letter that needs delivered to the DragonLady.>

Prania was surprised. Ophelia and Laria had been allowing her a few days
off to grieve for her brother P'kel. But, perhaps the new queenrider
hadn't thought of that, or didn't know who else to call.

<It will be good for you to get out of the apartment for a while,> Gwieth said.

She looked around at the same walls she had been looking at for the past
few days. Few people had bothered to visit her. L'sein had been very
understanding, but she didn't know whether to expect him tonight, with
B'rin's death.

She shrugged, went out and mounted her dragon. The two glided down to the
area of the cliff face that held the offices.

She went in at Kattibrie's "Come in!"

"You sent for me?" she asked.

"Yes, Prania. I have a job for you. I have a very important message for you
to take to the Dragon Lady of Keldarra." Kattibrie handed over the sealed
letter to the young female.

Prania took the letter, nodded, and left.

She and Gwieth were soon blinking out of the clear, frosty air of Telnor.
They appeared in almost pure whiteness. The shape of the outcropping
Prania typically affixed on was merely a grey outline in the snow storm.

<Ugh! Can you see your way anywhere, Gwieth?>

The dragon turned and headed in the general direction of the cliffs. <I
don't think we'll be able to find the offices. We're going to have to stop
at the first reasonable-looking place we come to.>

<Sounds good to me. We'll find the DragonLady in the morning.>

Suddenly, the cliffs loomed out of the blinding white, and Gwieth had to
backwing for a second to keep from flying into them. She flew to the
nearest ledge and landed. A red dragon glanced up at them as Prania dismounted.

<Gwieth, can you tell the dragon our situation and see if we could stay
here the night?>

******

She rolled over and nearly fell off the couch on which she'd been sleeping.
She sat up, confused, then remembered. She had spent the night with a
rider named Salinda at Keldarra, because of the blizzard.

After washing up and pulling on her clothes, she stepped out to see a
sleepy Salinda walking through to the kitchen.

"Good morning. Are you going down to the Dining Hall?" Prania asked.

"No. I think I'm just going to fix something here. You want anything?"

"Thanks, but no. I'm going to see if I can find the DragonLady and get
back to Telnor."

"Okay."

"Thanks for the use of your couch, and a nightgown."

"You're welcome. Come visit the next time you're here."

Prania smiled. "I will. Goodbye, Salinda."

******

They landed in front of the offices. Prania went and knocked, but there
was no answer.

<Gwieth, love, can you ask Kaeryth where her rider is?>

There was a pause, then Gwieth said, <The DragonLady is at the Medical
Center speaking to someone about something important. I can't quite follow
what's going on.>

<Oh. Okay. Well, send word that a courier from Telnor is needing to see
her. I'll be in the Dining Hall.>

Respectfully submitted,
 Lynette R. F. Cowper
  Prania and Gwieth

NRPG: Allen, Alton, and Sarah, dunno when V'dar, H'nry and Lyonnia get
there. Prania may still be there, though, with her message still
undelivered. Up to Susan.
