[DL-T] Talking Things Out

Zanni stepped into the room at that moment. "I see our Sleeping Beauty is
awake."

"Can I get out of here?" Danielle asked.

"Let me check you over." Zanni quickly did her work. "Yes, you seem fine,
although I don't want you left alone for 24 hours."

Danielle looked at Trap "I don't think that's a problem." She grinned.

He smiled, no it wouldn't be any problem at all to spend the next 24 hours
alone with her. Or even part of it. He didn't think she'd want to stay hid
away for long. Not when it meant that she wouldn't be able to see her new
little niece at all.

"I had someone bring you another pair of pants and shirt since yours were
destroyed." Zanni said, motioning to a chair in the room where they were folded.

"Thanks" Danielle said gratefully. "Can I go see Violet now?"

"For a few minutes, then I want you resting." Zanni said.

Danielle started to protest but Trap spoke up "I will make sure she does."

After Zanni left the room, Danielle quickly took off the gown she was
wearing and slid the clothes on. "Lets go."

They headed out, checking on Violet who was sleeping. Danielle wanted to
stay with her but Trap, after arguing with her for a few minutes over it,
finally just picked her up and carried her over to Diemis. "We are going home."

"But..."

"No buts," he stopped her words with a brief but hard kiss. "Zanni said you
needed to rest and rest you will if I have to wrap my arms around you to
keep you in our bed."

After Diemis dropped then off on their ledge, both riders watched as the
dark green dragon winged his way back to where the violet dragon was
fighting the effects of the stuff used to disable her. The green meant to
stay with his cuddle partner and no human was going to tell him to leave her.

Trap then carried her inside and took her straight back into their bedroom
where he sat her on the edge of the bed before moving to the dresser and
finding her a big shirt to wear. Then being very careful with her so not to
hurt her any more than she'd already been hurt, he tucked her under the covers.

"But Trap, I'm not even tired," she pouted, not wanting to spend the nest 24
hours in bed.

"Humor me love," he drawled softly. "I was so scared when Violet came back
here sick and you were no where to be found. I just need to hold you in my
arms for a while and feel you beside me."

He crawled onto the bed beside her and held open his arms. More than a
little relieved that she moved so quickly towards him, he pulled her close
and began stroking her hair as they cuddled together.

"If I were to lose you now... I would be only half a man."

They laid there in the quiet for sometime, before Danielle spoke up.

"Trap... what will I do if Violet doesn't get better?"

"Don't worry about that Dallie, she will!" he told her. "You just have to
keep on believing that."

"I'm trying too," she replied. "But I'm scared."

"Love you have to keep your thoughts positive and make sure Violets are too,
The healer's are doing everything they can to make the two of them well again."

"I know.."

"Trap?"

"Humm.."

"What about your trip to see your father?" she asked. "I know you asked me
if I would go with you and I really want to go... but... with Violet so sick
right now... I just can't leave here until I know she's going to be all right."

"Don't worry about that Love," he assured her as his hand kept up it's
caresses. "We can't go right now anyway. Not with Tera just having Trebrin
and all. She'll need a few days to rest up and recover, before she could
make the trip."

"You could go by yourself to see him," Danielle tilted her head up to look
at him. she knew how much this meant to him to finally get back together
with the man.

"No," he said hugging her closer for her offer. "I will wait until you and
Tera are able to go with me. I want you with me when I go so you can see
where it was that Tera and I grew up. And also because I want my Da to meet
the woman I love."

"But you should go love," she insisted. "I know how this means to you."

"Not as much as you mean to me!" he told her.

"But.."

"..No buts... Dallie...love...Seeing my da and finding out if it's true that
he wants to make amends, IS important to me...But not as important to me as
you are. You are MY family now. You, Tera and that little baby. So I'm not
going anywhere until Violet is well enough to take you with me."

"You don't have to wait."

"No... but I am going to."

"Trap?"

"Yes"

"About Kay..." she paused to gauge his reaction to the mention of the other
mans name and felt his body tense.

"Go on."

"I just couldn't ignore him and forget he was ever in my life. He and I were
friends for sometime before.... and I still care about what happens to him.
So I had to try to help him when I found out something was wrong."

"I wasn't upset about that...not really," he told her. "I was upset more
because you didn't feel you could come to me for help. Maybe that's my own
fault because of who Kay was in your life... but I would have helped you
find him and Kattibrie. No matter what I feel about him personally... he's
still a dragonrider and a member of this Warren. Besides which, I am trained
up to do this kind of thing. It's what I did for the last few years."

He felt her stiffen at the reminder of the past, then felt her relax against
him again.

"Now you remind me." she frowned. "Think of the trouble it would have saved
us all."

"I hope you remember that in the future my lovely little mate?"

"I'm sure you'll be around.. to.. remind.. me." she muttered as she finally
drifted off to sleep.

"For as long as you'll let me my love," he whispered against her hair and
then he too slept.

-----------------------------------

I didn't know how far into the next day everyone had gone so I didn't take
it very far. I assume Danielle will be wanting to see the baby sometime
after she wakes up and to go by and see Violet again. Trap will oblige her
up to a point. As long as she gets enough rest and eats something :)
