Kattibrie looked at him with haunted eyes that belied the anguish she was
forcing herself to deny. She forced a crooked smile and answered quietly,
"Just fine."

She hurried through her meal and asked, "Can we go see Kay soon?"

L'sein chuckled, "In a bit of a hurry, are you?"

Kattibrie nodded vehemently in response, sending her long auburn waves into
a jiggling dance about her small frame.

L'sein quickly finished his meal and stood up. 

"Shall we?" he asked, offering an arm to the queenrider.

Kattibrie linked arms with the dragonrider and the two turned to leave the
dining hall. Kattibrie was uncomfortably aware of all eyes on her again.

"Why must they stare at me so?" she asked, hurt in her voice.

** In Raissa's Jail **

L'sein accompanied Kattibrie into the waiting area. It was a place
depressingly devoid of color. The guard glared in their direction and
Kattibrie shrank at the look.

"One visitor at a time!" the guard snapped.

Kattibrie flinched at the harsh tone and looked helplessly at L'sein.

"Kattibrie is one of our queenriders. It is my duty to stand near to
protect her," L'sein supplied, hoping the angry warden would buy it.

"One visitor!" he snapped back.

Kattibrie flinched again. She looked up at L'sein, "I'll be okay, you just
wait here."

"Are you sure?" L'sein asked.

Kattibrie nodded in response and turned to follow the guard.

"Kay!" Kattibrie cried out, tears flowing down her face as she saw him
standing on the other side of the bars of the cell.

[I'm sorry,] Kay signed.

Kattibrie looked at him curiously as she recognized the sign, "What for?
You did nothing wrong."

He picked up his slate. [It's my fault what happened to you,] he scrawled.

"No!" Kattibrie cried, her heart going out to Kay. "It's all my fault. I
insisted on going. It's not like you made me go or you knew what was going
to happen."

"Kalewyn," the queenrider continued seriously, "I love you and I would have
gone anywhere with you."

Kattibrie and L'sein were about to leave when the door of the waiting room
opened. In walked Traplin and Danielle.

"Danielle!" Kattibrie exclaimed in surprise, "We just came from seeing Kay."

"Kattibrie!" Danielle said, also surprised.

"How are you doing?" the queenrider asked Danielle with concern She reached
a her hand out to lightly touch the bruises on the dragonrider's face.

Kat, wasn't sure what to do with this so I'll leave that up to you. I
didn't want to take the chance of miswriting Danielle. I had Kattibrie go
first since Lyn wrote that she and L'sein would go right after breakfast, I
