hadn't been for me, you wouldn't be here now." Danielle had tears forming
in her eyes "I have hurt you so much.... can you ever forgive me?"

He looked away, ignoring her proffered hands. That seemed so long ago ..
back when he had protected her. Back when she still wanted him. Now she had
no use for him. She had her Traplin.  *Go away ..* he signed, as pain
stabbed through his heart.

"No Kay!" she said reaching through the bars and grasping his arm tightly.
You have to talk to me!"

Kay's dark eyes filled with anger and agony, *Why?* His hands signed in
sharp movements, *So you can feel better about what you've done to me? You
broke your promise to me .. you lied .. How can I forgive that?*

"I know, Kay. I know I hurt you." She begged.

*I trusted you .. Even when H'nry told me I could not depend on you to stay
with me. Still I trusted you and gave you my heart.* The tears which had
threatened to fall all morning, ran angry paths down his cheeks. *And you
threw it away ..*

"No Kay. I still love you .." Danielle protested, "But I had to give my
life with Trap a chance .."

*Why! When you didn't even give me a chance. Do I really deserve less?* Kay
stared into her ice blue eyes, wondering how he had ever thought they
belonged to an angel. *Well you won't have to worry about me much longer,
will you. Soon they'll hang me and I won't be there for you to hurt
anymore. You can have your perfect Traplin! But don't expect me to give you
the satisfaction of forgiveness, because I won't do it! I WON'T!*

He could see the horror in her eyes .. but he was far to angry and hurt to
care. She was only here to clear her conscious .. and he wouldn't do it for
her. *Go away! I don't want to see you!*

As Danielle turned in tears and ran from the room, Kay collapsed to the
floor, his head on the bench and cried in complete wretchedness.
