{Present day}

** Calishandra **

She wriggled about between her eggs, trying desperately to get
comfortable enough to sleep. What Calishandra really wanted to do was
stretch her wings and fly, but that was not to be until the eggs were
hatched. She comforted herself with the thought that it wouldn't be
long. Finally she found a position that was at least tollerable and
began to doze.

She awakened with a start just minutes later, sensing a presence in the
hatching grounds with her. If she didn't know better, she would swear it
was a... 

<WRAITH!!!!!> she cried to all in the warren. She roared a mighty alarm
and then began flaming and thrashing about as best she could when she
eyed the grayish translucent blob easing its way toward her eggs.

**Kitty**

Kitty and Kay both bolted upright in bed as they heard the cry.

<Are you sure???> Kitty questioned, knowing how touchy and paranoid the
silver and gold queen had been the past several weeks.

<Yes!> **WHOOF** She flamed as the wraith dodged her, trying not to
crush her eggs in the effort of defending them, <Send help, now!>
**WHOOF** <I can't do this alone!>

*Wraith's in the hatching grounds!* Kitty signed to Kay, though he was
already up and getting dressed, having heard the queen himself.

Quickly Kitty pulled on a dress and headed out to the hatching grounds
with Kay. Already a crowd was gathered, and other dragons were helping
to flame the wraith.

Suddenly the dragons flew away, crying out in confusion.

<It's gone! Where is it?> Calishandra cried angrily.

<What, your eggs?>

<No the wraith! My eggs are fine! It left and now it's gone!>
Calishandra irritably replied.

<What do you mean, gone???> Kattibrie was confused, though relieved that
the eggs were fine.

<It flew out the opening and disappeared among the humans.>

"What???" Kitty exclaimed out loud.

She began to push through the throng of people when suddenly a young
woman grabbed her and kissed her fully on the lips.

"Mmph! What in all gods names???" Kattibrie cried out in astonishment,
watching Kerra's retreating form as the girl ran away quickly.

*Are you okay?* Kay signed to her, *Are you hurt?*

Kitty nodded, *Fine. She just grabbed me and kissed me. So odd!*
Kattibrie signed.
