<<Fairly early morning .. I think>>

>*Are you okay?* Kay signed to her, *Are you hurt?*

>Kitty nodded, *Fine. She just grabbed me and kissed me. So odd!* Kattibrie
>signed.

Kay smiled, *Well I don't think it's odd to want to kiss you.*

She grinned, *Not for you, I would hope .. but what about her.*

Kay looked to see who it was, but the woman had already slipped through the
crowd. He turned back to Kattibrie, *Who was it?*

*Kerra ..*

Kay shrugged, and moved to wrap an arm around her, *Now that the wraith's
gone .. can we go back to bed?*

*It's morning. Aren't you hungry?*

He nodded and winked, *But now Kerra has me thinking about kissing you ..
and you know where those thoughts lead ..*

A sparkle appeared in her eye, *Bed?*

He nodded, his eyes already sparking with interest.

She wrinkled her eyebrows at him in mock reproach. *And what about the wraith?*

*It's gone right?*

*But where there's one .. there's always more. I should go sit with
Calishandra ..*

He sighed a slight pout coming to his lips, *Okay.*

She hugged him tight, "You could join me there .. Calishandra will keep
anyone out .." She lightly teased his neck with her lips, before looking
back up at him, "I'm sure she won't mind sharing a far corner of her sands
.. not for us."

Kay grinned and nodded. Kattibrie released him and grabbed his hand,
leading him to the stairs to make their way up to where Calishandra sat
with her eggs. Kay stopped suddenly and she turned to look at him
questioningly.

*I love you, Kitty.* he signed when her eyes met his.

<<Afternoon .. I hope>>

Kay and Tera were on patrol. Since the argument about Trap, they'd seemed
to come to an agreement which was basically that they agreed to never
discuss him again. So far it had worked well and Kay found he enjoyed
spending time with the young woman. They'd been friends when their dragons
had first been hatched, but his relationship with Danielle and Trap's
return to the warren had changed that.

As long as they didn't discuss Danielle and Trap though, things were okay.
And Kay was glad of it. Things were finally falling into place again.
They'd beat the hellspawn problem .. He and Kattibrie were happy .. he had
a partner again .. And now his mother would be joining them in the warren.

He'd been spending as much time as he could with her as she and her
companion had traveled slowly from Falagand to Telnor. He wished they could
have done it in one move .. with Sabbith's help she could have been in the
Warren for quite some time. But having watched her, he knew she probably
would haven't have been able to handle it emotionally.

Whatever had happened to her after the fire, had deeply scarred her. And
she wasn't the same person she'd been. She was nervous .. and jumpy .. and
almost childlike in her interactions with people.

He knew that while she called him 'son', she didn't treat him like her son.
She would never be the mother he remembered. But that didn't matter. What
did is that she was coming to live in the Warren. He'd already arranged for
a small apartment for her and the woman who cared for her. They'd decided
that it would be better the having to find yet another apartment for all of
them.

Kay still maintained his apartment, having spent so much time on the mural
of Sabbith which adorned the wall over the dragon's sandy bed. And they
stayed in Kattibrie's apartment while Calishandra was caring for her eggs
due to it's easy access to the Hatching cavern. And neither of those were
convenient for an unjoined woman with some serious emotional handicaps.

<My Kay! Sundellath and her rider have spotted human's in trouble! There's
been a landslide.>

<<Later in the afternoon>>

>"Can... maybe you teach me how to speak to my son?" he asked Kay. "Can you
>help me learn how to do what you do so my son can have a life when he
>grows up and isn't depended on others to help him out all the time. "I'm
>more then willing to learn anything I can to help him."

Kay nodded and wrote, [I can teach you.]

"Thank you." The man said gratefully.

Kay wrote the boys name on the slate then spelled it out slowly with his
hand. The man understand and tried awkwardly to follow the man's signs. Kay
repeated it again, until the man was able to fingerspell his sons name.

He took the time to teach him a few other phrases, but it was soon clear
the man was overwhelmed. "There's so much to learn," he dispaired.

Kay smiled and wrote, [Your son is young. He'll lean quickly and then help
you to learn as well.]

"Is that how your parents learned?"

Kay shook his head, [My mother taught both my father and myself. I don't
know where she learned.]

He realized that was still true. Where had she learned to sign ..

<<Just before dinnertime .. maybe later ..>>

Kay paced in front of Telnor's gate. This waiting wasn't fun! Kattibrie
tried to calm him, "They aren't late yet." She reminded him.

He looked up at the sun making it's way across the sky and shrugged, *I
know ..* Still he paced.

<I see the wagon!> Sabbith called to him from a position high in the peaks
of the Warren where Kalewyn had asked him to keep an eye out for the wagon.

<Are you sure?> Kay asked excitedly.

<Of course I'm sure!> Sabbith grunted indignantly.

<I'm sorry Sweet Sabbith .. It just seems like I've been waiting forever!>

<The wait is over my Kay. She is coming.>

Kay turned to Kattibrie and hugged her tightly. *Sabbith says he can see
the wagon. They are almost here.*

She smiled, "I'm so glad, Kay."

*Will you be okay here?* Kay asked her nervously.

She looked at him and frowned, *No windows.*

*There are windows,* he said. *Come look.* He led her into a bedroom that
had a window. *This is your room, because I know ho much you like windows.
I made sure to find an apartment with a window.*

*Good son, Kalewyn,* she signed and moved to the window.

He looked to her companion, the Old lady Timari, *Is she going to be okay?*

The woman nodded, "She'll be fine Kalewyn. Don't worry. But it has been a
long day, and I'd like to give her some time with just the two of us to get
used to this place. It'll be much different from the farm."

He nodded, *I'm still working on getting you a small plot of land just
outside the warren walls .. but it's not easy. Maybe in a couple of weeks
or so.*

"We'll get by," She said patting his arm. Then she turned to Kay's mother,
who was still gazing out the window. "Kashya." She called.

She turned to look at her friend. Timari smiled at her gently, "Your son
needs to go, and we need to get some rest."

Kashya nodded, *I am tired.*

Kay moved to her, *Goodnight, mama.*

Kashya pushed past him and hugged the dirt-stained, dark-headed doll that
seemed never to be far from her grasp. *Goodnight Sweet Kalewyn.* she
signed to the doll.

Kay frowned slightly. He'd gotten used to the fact that she preferred to
talk to the doll rather then to him .. but it didn't make it any easier to
accept. Timari told him to give her time .. but his frustration was
growing. It had been weeks already!

However, he reminded himself, it had been weeks of traveling and everything
was new to the woman. The only thing that wasn't was Timari and that doll.

He turned to see Kattibrie standing in the door way, she motioned him to
come. With a slight shrug, he did. He had little choice.

Regards,
Kalewyn & Sabbith

NRPG: I'm a bit confused on the timeline and when Ash's hellspawn attack
happened, so hopefully I am not to far off base with this.
