by

Part of this is an on going story in Cleft Warren.. Abby is being called
there to help save the life of Blanchie. Lenna's dragon. She had been found
injured and near death near the caves where her rider had visited earlier
and was kidnapped. The bad guys got away with it by gassing the dragon in
the same way Sabbith had been gassed before...

Abby
*****

*Doggie found bone*

Abby laughed as she read the hand signs shown to her from the little
one on the bed. She'd been coming to see the little one every since
he'd been brought in, and was amazed at how fast he was picking up
the words dealing with the handspeak Kay and the others had been
showing him.

"I fear he's picking it up a lot faster then I have," the boys father
commented with a grin. "But I will learn it. I will be able to speak
to my son if it's the last thing I do."

Abby turned to the man and smiled warmly up at him. "I know you will
Jaclur. You have both showed how much this means to you and just the
little bit you've learned so far is doing wonders for your sons improvement."

She stood up from where she'd been sitting next to the boy, Jal's bed
and signed to him. *I will come back later* then turned back to the
father.

"I've got to finish my rounds then I'll stop back by before I go home."

"Thank you healer."

"Hey.. no thanking me," she told him. "You two are doing this all by
yourselves. But if you want to thank anyone it should be Kay. Because
without his special abilities this wouldn't be possible."

"You're right," Jaclur agreed. "I've come to see how much I still have
to learn about my thinking from that boy. He's shown me a lot of things
in the past few days about dealing with people and their handicaps that
I never knew before. And it's helped me to open my eyes."

Abby left the room and walked back towards the nurses station.

"How's the little one today?" the nurse asked, and knowing by the smile
the healer wore, he was doing well. "He sure is the learningset child
I've ever seen."

"Well he has a lot of time to make up for," Abby laughed but agreed
with the woman. "I think maybe we'll keep him here for a few more days
just to give him some time with Kay, and maybe it might be a good idea
to have someone bring in the rest of his family so they too can see how
much he's improved."

"I'll see to it Abby. That's a wonderful idea."

<Abby?....Dragonhealer Abby?...>

The woman stopped and opened up her mind when she felt the touch of a
dragon's thoughts inside her head.

<<Who calls for the Dragonhealer?>> she replied sending out the request
on a long opened band.

"What is it Abby?" the nurse asked, noticing the strange look come over
the healers face. Her eyes had glazed over in the same way a riders did
when they were communicating with their dragon.

The healer held her hand up for silence.

<Shinner from Cleft... Your help and skills are required for one of
our kind who is sick and may be dying. We must move quickly to save her.
Will you come?>

<<Come on ahead Shinner. I will meet you and your rider here (she though
hard to picture the front of her apartment) I will come with you. What is
thought to be wrong with... Who is injured? >>

If Shinner was on his way then she knew Dan'yar must really be worried.
She knew Cleft had their own Dragonhealers, so why was the Cleft rider
coming to her?"

<The Dragon is Blanchie.. my rider's sibling's dragon.>

Blanchie... Oh Gods no!!

<<Where is Lenna!! Is she with you?>>

there was a slight pause before the copper-green dragon answered.

<We know not where Blanchie's rider is. She is missing and our riders
are searching for her.>

<<Vortex.... hear me please!!!!>> she called out to her mates dragon.
She needed to tell Marcus that she would be leaving the Warren for a
while and didn't know when she'd be back.

<You called Abby?> he answered her quickly.

<<Yes...>> she answered him then asked him to pass along her message to
his rider.

Abby turned then and ran down the hall to the supply room where she
began throwing things in to a med bag then raced towards the door
leading outside where she hurried towards her apartment. She got there
just in time to see two dragon's landing.

She recognized the copper one as Shinner even before she saw his rider
dismount and come running towards her. the other she knew was Tergath,
Farr'in's dragon. Behind them Vortex landed and Marcus dismounted to join them.

"Shinner told you?" Dan'yar asked when he came up to her.

"He did," she placed his hand on his arm and led him back inside. "What's
happened? And How can I help?"

"It looks like the same stuff used on Sabbith the time we found him in the
same condition. I knew you would know what to do and with Lenna missing..."

"Shinner told me when I asked him about her." Abby stopped in her tracks.
"Where? How? Does anyone have any ideas?"

Oh this was bad. Real bad. Her hand reached out and found Marcus's. Just
touching him gave her the strength she needed to hear the news about her friend.

"No...and Blanchie is in no condition to tell us."

She could hear the urgency in his tone and turned to her mate. "I have to go
and try to help them."

"I know," his eyes met hers letting her see that he expected no less from
her. "Could you use some company. I'm pretty good with herbs and things. I
could be of some help to you."

"You could at that!" Abby agreed, thinking it was a wonderful idea. "Are you
sure?"

"Let's go," he took her hand and began to lead her towards Vortex's, calling
out to Dan'yar, asking that he have Shinner give his dragon a picture of
where they were to go.

..................

"It's the same stuff," Abby told them soon after examining Blanchie. "I've
given her the first does of the antidote and think it would be better to get
her back to the Warren where I'll be closer to medical supplies if I need
more. also I think Blanchie will feel better being around those she knows
until her rider is found."

She got them organized. Supervising the operation until Blanchie was being
supported by Shinner on one side and Meritanth on the other.

She noticed the Black dragon with his red-headed rider hadn't been far
from them the whole time she'd been there and had asked a young woman on
an albino dragon who the man was.

"So that's the man who finally caught her," Abby thought for a moment
and the turned her attentions back on the dragon med-I-vac team.

When she was sure Blanchie was as secur as she could be, she let Marcus
lead her back over to Vortex and help her to mount then she gave the
others the order to lift, and soon all wee back in the Cleft.

"I want a large tent set up over there where that over hang will offer
some shade during the day," she began giving orders and wasn't surprised
when they were followed without questions. She would thank Dan'yar later
for spreading the word to help her anyway she was in need of it.

Right now she had a dragon to save.
