"How dare you?" she shouted. "You pamper her, but won't say a word to
the hatchlings your dragon hurt?"

What the hell was this girl babbling about, he thought as he slowly
raised himself.
"Look, I don't care what the hell your problem is..." he started as Fox
punched him again.
"My problem..." she spat out, " You know damn well what my problem is!
She was scared senseless and it's all your fault! Do you apologize? NO!"
Fox added a kick in the groin, causing Soucivi to double over in pain
while she continued her rant. "Absolutely not! You would prefer to pet
*her* instead!"
Soucivi felt the blood rush to his head as his vision blurred. He
collapsed on the floor again and for a few seconds he was afraid he was
going to lose consciousness. He groaned painfully and thought that he
should have listened to Eth'n and have gone straight to the Med Center
with Tanda. But no! He just had to thank Pepper first!
"Look..." he began weakly, "You misunderstood me..."
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Fox started, as she kicked his side. "I'd hate to
'MISunderstand' you."
She flipped her hair over her shoulder and set her foot down on his
chest. "Why don't you explain???"
Soucivi coughed loudly as the air in his lungs escaped. The edges of his
eyesight were slowly darkening... all he could see were the girl's blue
eyes and angry sneer...she was crazy...
{LEAVE HIM ALONE!} a sudden voice exploded in his head as a blur of red
flew straight at his attacker, throwing her off of him.
Groaning silently he looked up and was surprised to see Pepper, of all
dragons, pinning the aggressor down.
"What the hell just happened?" Fox gasped, trying to catch her breath
while Pepper's claws held her shoulder's back.
She was answered by a low hiss directly in front of her face.
Coughing again, Soucivi stood up and walked to where the brown haired
girl was squirming under the young dragon's weight. He shook his head as
he leaned down next to the girl's head.
"Look, I don't know what you're talking about, but Dargen is passed out
somewhere. I was just thanking Pepper before I went to take care of him."
"What'd you sick her on me?" she yelled, still pinned. "You coward!
Can't fight for yourself?" With that she spit in his face. "Fight your
own battles. Or are you scared to fight with a little girl???"
The pounding on his head was slowly coming back...
"Look you!" he yelled, "I don't have the time to deal with an arrogant
bitch! My dragon is hurt somewhere and I'm wasting my time here with
you! Now I'm going to offer you a deal. I can ask Pepper here to get off
and I'll talk to you later, *after* I've dealt with Dargen! Or I can
simply leave you pinned until Pepper decides otherwise."
He stood and glared at the girl, "Frankly I hope you choose the latter.
I don't think Pepper really likes you!"
Fox looked up at Pepper, who promptly bared her teeth and hissed. "Um I
think I'll take my chances of dealing with you later. Now do you
mind???" she said impatiently.
Soucivi smiled maliciously and turned around, heading out of the barracks.
Fox's temper flared once again. "You ass! You're just going to leave me
here? What an outstanding person you are!" she cried out to his
retreating back. Realizing this would probably get her nowhere she
looked back at Pepper. "I don't suppose you would want to get off me
anytime soon?" she asked the dragon hopefully.
The dragon cocked her head, pressing down until Fox was almost choking.
"Thanks Pepper. You're a real doll." Fox responded sarcastically. "Help!
Somebody helped. Dragon sitting on my chest! Help me! PLEASE?" she
started to shout.
Soucivi had made it to the door, turned around, and looked straight at
her grinning evilly, then he turned and walked right out as Fox
continued to shout for help. Unfortunately none of the bystanders would
risk the wrath of Pepper's hissing snarl.
Walking outside Soucivi's smile relaxed and he breathed deeply at the
morning's sweet scent... almost as sweet as revenge.
"HELP!!!!!" Fox shrieked from inside "BIG BAD DRAGON CUTTING OFF MY AIR!
GEEZ! GET THE HELL OFF ME! PLEASEEEE!" Fox squirmed under the weight on
her chest, desperate to get away.
Soucivi groaned and turned around, he couldn't just leave the girl like
that, even though she had asked for it. He sighed and dragged himself
back inside the building, stopping next to Pepper.
Fox looked up at the boy's face and sighed in annoyance, "My hero..."
she said, sarcasm dripping from her lips.
He looked at her and couldn't help smirking a bit, he rolled his eyes
and gently pushed Pepper on the shoulder. The dragon took the hint and
after growling at Fox, slowly got off of her.
Gasping for air, Fox only stared in fury at Soucivi's back as he turned
around and left again. This was far from over.

It was not until later that a stray thought fixated itself into
Soucivi's mind and would not allow him to think of anything else for a
long time.
Had he actually heard Pepper when she had saved him?
