Day 5
Early Morning
Above the warren

Deutshe circled lazily, watching the dragon and rider pair, flying away.
He didn't really know, or really care for that matter, why Srot wanted
him to follow them. All that he really knew was that the fool on his
back better not lead both of them to their deaths.

He wouldn't really mind if Srot died though. Not at all...

<* Mount! Stop your daydreaming and follow those two! *> Srot bellowed
in the dragon's mind.

Without a word Deutshe obediently turned to follow the dragon and rider
pair and begin flapping vigorously to catch up to them.

<* Not too close,*> Srot ordered, <* They may not be able to see us, but
its better that we don't do anything risky! *>

<Like burning Saphmine's supplies to the ground? > Deutshe stated
bluntly, sarcasm dripping from each word.

<* Watch your tongue dragon!*>

Deutshe became silent, thinking how stupid the idle threat was, since he
didn't even talk with his tongue.

******

Deutshe had been flying after the dragon and rider for a quite some time
now, leaving the warren far behind them, while Srot had been carefully
scanning the surrounding landscape of Telnor.

<What are you looking for anyway? >

Spotting a nearby mountain, Srot ignored the question and said <*
Deutshe, can you see any caves in that mountain, something that could
fit your rather large rear end in? Preferably near the ground? *>

Snorting at the insult Deutshe countered with, <A few, but hardly deep
enough to hide your ugly face! >

Srot ignored the comment and looked at their query. They would near the
mountain in a few minutes.

<* Mount, prepare to teleport just above the mountain. We'll attack as
soon as they come within range. >

In a flash, Deutshe had materialized them directly above the mountain.
He then began circling, awaiting the blue dragon and rider.

Later
Place unknown
Time unknown

Jason's coughed and felt his head throb in pain. His entire body was in
agony. He slowly opened his eyes, only to find more darkness. He was
blindfolded. Trying to move his hands he felt sharp ropes cutting into
the skin of his wrists and a rather painful cut from his right arm.
Shifting his weight and rolling on the floor he also discovered that he
was lying on an extremely dirty floor. Moving his head side to side and
inhaling deeply he recognized the familiar scent of a cave.

<* Star? Star, are you ok? *>

No response came from the link, but he did feel the dragon's presence,
somewhat diminished however. Jason groaned as he realized that meant
only one thing, his dragon was unconscious somewhere and he had no way
to know where he was. Still struggling with his bonds, Jason tried to
remember what happened. It was nearly impossible however, since a
throbbing headache has taken hold of his brains and was currently
tormenting him. All that he could remember was that he had taken a
morning ride after all of the confusion of the tremors had died down,
and he had just begun to head back. The rest was simply pain and
confusion followed by a blank.

He groaned in anger as he felt the ropes on his wrist only get wet with
his blood as he tried to undo them.

Suddenly a loud hoarse voice said, "I wouldn't bother. I've had years of
practice. I doubt even I could get you out of those without a knife."

Jason turned to the source of the voice.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"Who am I?" the voice repeated, changing tones slightly. Jason felt a
body approach and callused hands grab for his blindfold. "Why my dear
friend, I'm you!"

The blindfold came off and to his surprise Jason saw his own face
staring back at him. Every pore, every dirty blonde hair, every little
flaw he had ever noticed in a mirror was staring right back at him
behind a cruel smile.

"You seem surprised, Jason." the doppelganger mocked, "It's not everyone
who can find themselves."

Jason closed his astonished mouth after a few seconds of gawking and
became enraged. "You're not me! Who are you? What have you done to my
dragon? How do you know my name?"

"I'm afraid I can't answer your first question. But as for your beast,
he's right here." he said pointing directly behind him. "He has been
calling out to you every once in a while now."

Jason was shocked to find that Starfire was indeed right behind him. The
dragon was unconscious and was breathing laboriously. Cuts and bruises
covered the azure hide and a deep laceration near the head was still
dripping blood on the floor. He turned to face his captor again and saw
that the only light in the cave was coming from behind him, the entrance.

"I wouldn't worry too much about your beast. His injuries aren't serious
and he'll heal nicely after a few days." The imposter said leaning
against the wall of the cave. "Of coarse maybe in a few days he won't be
himself anymore, but by then you probably won't mind anyway.

Jason struggled to come to a sitting position, noticing that strangely
enough, his cut arm was bandaged. "What the hell are you talking about!"
he screamed, "What did you do to him?"

The man pointed to the mouth of the cave to the trees beyond. "You'd be
amazed the sort of things you can mix together if you know how. Right
now you're lizard here is enjoying a rather strong mix of some wild
mushrooms that at the right dose will cause him to sleep for a very long
time... and at a even stronger dose kill him." The man shrugged,
"Naturally, he's likely to regain conscious when the effects of the drug
start to wear, but I'll make sure those are brief. We wouldn't want him
to call any unwanted visitors right?"

Jason looked at his dragon and after a few minutes of concentration, he
could faintly feel the horrid dreams his friend was suffering. "What do
you want from us? What do mean he won't be himself and I won't care?"

The man laughed silently, "My aren't we full of questions? Well, I don't
want anything from your blue friend here." He said walking up to the
sleeping dragon and slapping his hide " And you'll find out what I mean
in a few days won't you? All that I want from you right now though, is a
few questions answered."

Jason glared hatred at his captor and said, "How come I get the feeling
that I won't want to answer these questions?" he said coldly.

"Because you're right." The stranger said silently as he walked close to
Jason and sat on a stone in front of him, "But they are not hard
questions, I'm sure you'll answer them to my satisfaction."

"And what if..."

"And what if you don't?" the man interrupted, "Well I'll simply give
your friend here a stronger dose of the drug and you get to watch him
die slowly, and rather painfully I might add, helpless from the floor."

Jason looked at his drugged dragon and sighed. He stared blankly into
space for a minute.

"What do you want to know?" he asked defeated.

The man tossed his head back and began laughing cruelly. "Oh nothing
much, just tell me about yourself."

Late morning/Early afternoon
The green

The blue dragon and rider landed in the green, with absolutely no
resistance from the watch dragons. The rider dismounted and began
walking towards where he assumed the med center would be.

He smiled to himself; luck had been on his side, finding someone that
had only just been recently assigned to the warren and had extremely few
acquaintances. It would be easy to fool others that he wasn't the real
Jason. The only person he had to avoid was this rider's mate, and if his
luck held, he would be able to keep minimum contact with her for the
next few days. If he couldn't, he'd simply say he wasn't feeling well
and hopefully she'd back off. Which, even if she didn't he wouldn't be
around long enough for her to grow too suspicious.

Simple.

All he truly needed to worry about was finding the dragon he had
infected, and to keep him that way. He was sure it wouldn't be too hard.

<* Deutshe, have you spotted the med center yet? I don't want to look
like I'm lost. *> Srot asked the disguised dragon above.

<Yes, but I don't think you'll be getting there any time soon in the
direction you're going though. >

<* Am I going the wrong way? *>

<No, actually. You're right on target. But from what I can make out from
the female down there, who's currently waving at you and about to yell
out, I'd say that you won't be getting anywhere too soon.>

Srot and Deutshe

NRPG: If you're lost to what's going on, here's a quick recap. A
Wasteling can use the dragon bond to cause illusions and Srot and
Deutshe have just used that to infiltrate the warren as none other than
Jason and Starfire.

For those of you who have no idea whatsoever who Srot and Deutshe are,
or what a Wasteling is for that matter, I recommend you read the following:
