Day 4, Late evening
Scene: Ilara's room in the med centre

Ilara drifted up into a drowsy wakefulness. It was strange not to feel
the searing pain across her chest, there was an uncomfortably rough
numbness but certainly no agony to send her instantly back to
unconsciousness.

She could feel something.... someone, at her bedside, holding her hand,
and the moist warmth of.... moving her head groggily, she could see in
the dim lighting that someone was crying, their tears tracking over the
back of her hand.

Ilara gently flexed her fingers, that was about as much strength as she
could muster. They brushed her visitor's cheek; Sarilyn looked up, her
expression changing from one of grief, of sadness, to joy, to boundless
happiness.

"Sarilyn...." Ilara's heart leapt, despite her infirmity she tried to
sit up, but there was no strength in her limbs. "Love...." She felt a
pair of hands gently raising her, the pillow being shifted, and her love
was there, hovering over her. It felt like some kind of surreal dream
but it was real, Sarilyn was here.... wherever here was.

"Where am I?" she asked, propped up, looking with dreamy eyes at the
woman at her bedside.

"The Med Centre.... at Telnor Warren.... Ilara, what happened?!"

"Long story.... bad scrape.... tell you later," she shrugged feebly.
Ilara didn't even know if she could pull herself together enough for
story-telling. She would have sat bolt upright the next moment if she
could, panic rising in her voice, "Where's Lynara? And the others....
Nik, Joanna?"

"Shhh, Ilara." Sarilyn put a finger over the injured pristess's lips.
"They must have been brought here with you. I'll go look for you." She
made to get up but Ilara weakly held on to her hand.

"Sarilyn, wait.... don't go." Ilara's eyes were moist with emotional
tears, her voice thick and husky from her long sleep. "Stay with me a
minute..... please. I can't believe you're really here, I.... I don't
want to wake up and think that this was a dream."

"You're not dreaming. I'm really here," Sarilyn replied, her voice
strained as well. She leaned over and kissed Ilara, feather-light
kisses on the forehead, and cheeks, and nose, and chin, and lips. Then
Ilara's eyes met hers and for a few long moments they simply drank from
one another's eyes, communicating their feelings, their love.

Ilara felt guilty, that having been caught up in her new roles of
priesthood and motherhood, she'd neglected Sarilyn, not spent enough
tender loving care on their tenuous relationship, when really she wanted
to be with her every minute of every day. Their responsibilities had
kept them apart for so long at a time she'd felt like she was going
crazy.... now, she had no responsibilities, the order had been struck a
very mortal blow, at its heart the church, and with that her faith had
collapsed. She couldn't think about those that had died, much less what
had happened to their spirits.

Now she had no responsibilities.... save for Lynara. Ilara pressed her
lips against Sarilyn's unexpectedly deepening the kiss, rekindling the
flame of their passion, as their tongues twined she could feel the heat
radiating from Sarilyn's cheeks, feel her own heart thumping in her
ears, a feeling of giddy light-headedness, her fingers clenching
anxiously in her love's hand, Sarilyn's curly hair brushing against her
cheek.

They finally broke for a moment or two, flushed and breathing raggedly.
"I love you," Ilara gasped, "I missed you so much...."

Ahhhh, doncha just love it when the post just sits there and writes
itself? ;)

I'll get to my other tag, soon I hope. <G>

Jeanette: Well, someone's happy to see her! :) Um, feel free to pick
this up, have her dissolve into panic over her daughter, and find Lynara
curled up next to Joanna in a room nearby. She's sortof been a second
mom figure.
