> Day 4, Late evening
> Scene: Ilara's room in the med centre
>
> "Long story.... bad scrape.... tell you later," she shrugged feebly.
> Ilara didn't even know if she could pull herself together enough for
> story-telling. She would have sat bolt upright the next moment if she
> could, panic rising in her voice, "Where's Lynara? And the others....
> Nik, Joanna?"
>
> "Shhh, Ilara." Sarilyn put a finger over the injured pristess's lips.
> "They must have been brought here with you. I'll go look for you." She
> made to get up but Ilara weakly held on to her hand.
>
> "Sarilyn, wait.... don't go." Ilara's eyes were moist with emotional
> tears, her voice thick and husky from her long sleep. "Stay with me a
> minute..... please. I can't believe you're really here, I.... I don't
> want to wake up and think that this was a dream."
>
> "You're not dreaming. I'm really here," Sarilyn replied, her voice
> strained as well. She leaned over and kissed Ilara, feather-light
> kisses on the forehead, and cheeks, and nose, and chin, and lips. Then
> Ilara's eyes met hers and for a few long moments they simply drank from
> one another's eyes, communicating their feelings, their love.
>
> They finally broke for a moment or two, flushed and breathing raggedly.
> "I love you," Ilara gasped, "I missed you so much...."

"I was so worried about you, 'Lara. After you and everyone left,
it was like I dunno, like part of me left then too. I studied every day
under that young woman Ari, the one who knew how to fight without wasting
energy and stuff? She was my guru. Studying with her was my only
peace...because she taught me how to let go of what was bothering me."

She shrugged, "But after our workouts, I would still be worried.
Everything was all upside down and mixed up. I couldn't wait until you came
back. I put all of myself into my work as a Wingleader, a lot of the time
working until I was about to fall over. Then, I ended up getting
transferred here, along with Darla, the rider who is short of stature but
not of vocal abilities?," she chuckled and went on, "my father is near as
well. Mother and M'ris are still at Nambril, but promises have been made
for visits."

She stood, kissing Ilara again. "You wait here, I'll be right
back. I'm going to go check on our daughter, as well as the others."

Slipping out quietly, Sari found one of the healers and asked
about Nik, Joanna and Lynara. Wanting to see for herself, she made the
young woman lead her to their rooms where she quietly peered in, nodding as
she assured herself all was well, especially with Lynara.

She wandered back into Ilara's room again with a smile. "Hey, I
just looked in on everyone. They're all sleeping nicely, and Lynara has
grown! You should be resting too, you know. We can catch up afterwards."

Sarilyn grinned, winking. "I haven't reported in yet! Seems I
arrived in the middle of a hatching party. Then I sobered up a young rider,
met his sneezy dragon, which was cute until he gave his rider a back covered
with hot dragon snot!, and brought him here. It was only my curiosity if
this med center was like Xylian's that led to me finding you."

She stopped speaking suddenly, her mind catching Lunath's now
unable to be hidden worry. She'd tried to keep her rider from finding out
about the mess in the dining hall, but all the dragons were worried and
upset, and it was simply impossible.

"Damn! Ilara love, I have to go for a bit, seems there is a
problem at the dining hall and everyone is helping out. I also have to see
if my sleeping arrangements are still on. Until I get assigned a place, I'm
imposing on the hospitality of that rider I told you about. I promise I'll
come back before I turn in for the night. And I still want to know how
*you* ended up here, when you were supposed to be somewhere else entirely."

She kissed Ilara again, groaning as she pulled away and hurried
out to the center of the green, then towards where everyone else was
working. "What happened???" She didn't need for anyone to learn she was
now quite turned on, and with no relief in sight in the middle of a crisis.
Ilara was in *no* shape to do anything...so that left Sarilyn with a deep
longing that would become a horrible acheing need before the night was over.
She only hoped K'rvey wouldn't notice. He might not understand. But if he
did notice, would she take him up on any advances? She did, after all, look
to both sexes.
