pm Subject: [DL-T] Come to Dinner
Day 6
Early Evening
Eth'n hadn't taken Sarilyn up on unloading all of his problems, but the
afternoon with the two women had sped by. He had enjoyed their bubbly
enthusiasm as they had examined the apartments. Darla seemed rather young
to be picking out an apartment, and Eth'n worried a bit about her.
They hadn't made a decision on which one they'd call home, and Eth'n
suggested dinner.
Heading over to the dining hall, Eth'n introduced the women to a few of his
new trainees as well as a few of the older riders.
They navigated their way through the line and filled their trays. The
dining hall was already full, but they managed to find a table with several
recently vacated seats -- as a group of riders left for evening patrol duty.
They had just sat down when Fal'k, Talisi and Chenoa walked up, having also
spotted the same table. Eth'n waved them over as they turned to look
elsewhere, "Join us! Hey, have you met Darla and Sarilyn?"
"No, hello! Are you new to Telnor?" Chenoa asked.
"Are you candidates?" Talisi asked and went on, proudly, "We're riders! If
you aren't too new, you may have heard about our dragons -- they were the
ones joined at the hip."
Darla and Sarilyn exchanged a quick look and smile. Sarilyn answered, "No,
we're transfers from Xylian."
"You're riders? But you're so young!" Talisi blurted out.
Darla blushed but Sarilyn only laughed, "Thank you! Though, I bet I'm no
younger than you."
Chenoa rolled her eyes, "What my sister means, is that we're terribly
*sorry* to have mistaken seasoned riders for candidates."
"That's quite all right! Though, in my case seasoned is a bit of a
stretch," Darla managed a smile.
"Well, if you need some training, Eth'n's your man!" Fal'k grinned. "He's
been putting us through our paces."
Eth'n chuckled, "Just wait until tomorrow -- flying in formation. No easy
task!"
The three newer riders fired questions at Eth'n, hoping to get a jump on the
other trainees, but Eth'n just waved away their questions, chuckling.
They'd just have to wait and see.
