[DL] Saul

Saul was surprised at the girls obvious lack of appreciation at what he had
done for her. She was a dragonrider now. What more could she want. He
shrugged and turned to watch the rest of the hatching. He moved toward the
stands and leaned back enjoying the mass chaos that arose as hatchling
searched for humans and vise versa.

He winked at several young women who managed to catch his eye from the
stands. He flashed each a warm smile in return for their waves. He was
rather enjoying himself when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see
Cali grinning at him. "Shouldn't you be watching the hatching rather then
the stands?"

"Oh, I am, sweet Cali. But you know all those lonely daughters of Lords and
such really need my attentions as well."

"I'm sure you wouldn't think of depriving them."

"Never!" he grinned.

"What about your searchlings? Don't you want to see if they join or not?"

He chuckled, I can tell you already which have joined and which have not..."
he smiled. "It's my job, Cali."

"And you're never wrong," she chided him.

"Never, when it counts." He looked back at the hatching, watching as the
joining continued.

As the last egg hatched the stands began to clear as the on lookers moved
toward the great hall for food and fun. Saul's eyes sparkled as he caught a
glimpse of the Lady Timma, who smiled slyly as she caught his eye.

Cali chuckled behind him. He turned to her, "And what are you laughing at?"

"I think Timma has designs on you, Saul."

He grinned, "Aye... but little does she know, ~I~ have designs on her!"

Cali laughed as the man confidently followed after the crowd.

Saul entered the Great Hall where the celebration was being held and smiled
diplomatically as he nodded to the Lords and their Ladies. He received a few
glares from nobles who had decided for one reason or another they did not
like the brash man. Saul loved the attention he drew, both good and bad, not
allowing anyone to intimidate him.

His eyes searched the room, until they fell on the voluptuous form of Lady
Timma. She was the eldest daughter Lord Farrel of Dunsbro. Farrel, of all
the Lords liked Saul the least. He was dismayed at the interest his daughter
had taken in the dragonrider.

Saul did not care for the arrogant Farrel either, though his daughter was
another story. Timma saw him and headed toward him directly. "Saul, I've
been waiting for you. How naughty of you to keep me waiting."

"Please forgive me, beautiful Lady. I assure you that I did hurry as fast as
I could." He smiled at her, "You know how it pains me to not be at your side."

She tipped her head at him, "I'm sure."

The two bantered as Saul took her arm and led her to the dance floor.
Wrapping one arm around her waist, he gracefully led her around the dance
floor. They slowly worked their way toward the large door of the hall. As
they drew near, Saul released her waist and took her hand leading her out
into the warm after noon sun.

"I have missed you, Timma." he said.

"I doubt you have been lonely, my love."

He grinned, but didn't answer her charge. She shook her head, "Sometime,
Saul, I don't know why I put up with you."

He grinned wryly and pulled her off to the side, "I'll tell you why," he
wrapped his arms around her as she melted into his passionate kiss.

Breathlessly, she pushed him back, "You are a rogue, sir," she grinned.
"Besides, my sweet, the day is still young. Not to mention I haven't eaten
since early this morning and I am famished."

He chuckled, "We shall have to do something about that." Together they
headed back into the celebration. Saul took note of Farrel's hostile glare
and sent him his best smile in return. He then watched as Farrel stepped
over to his daughter and pulled her away, feigning his need for her to meet
other at the part.

Saul threw her a kiss as she went, then got himself a drink, and stood back
to survey the room.
