Saul
***

It was getting close to Dinner time when Saul and L'rian finally arrived
back at the Warren after their patrol. Saul had managed to forget his
worries about the birth control issue which had plagued him when they first
left on patrol. Now he was simply anxious to see Shawnee once again.

<Why are we going back already?> asked Fayloth

<Because I have dinner plans.>

<Yes, but we were so close to Tilaharnon Plains! You know how much I love
to hunt there while you and L'rian play cards.> The brilliant blue dragon
complained.

<Dear Fayloth, please. Sweet Shawnee awaits.>

The dragon grumbled. <Yes but you could have just as easily have had 'Sweet
Lydia'. She's always ready to mate with you.>

Saul chuckled. <Sorry Fayloth, there is no comparison.>

Fayloth snorted and continued toward the warren. The two dragon's landed on
the green and their riders slid off. L'rian walked over to Saul, "Next time
we play cards at least." Then with a chuckled he was off.

Saul grinned. L'rian had not given him a hard time about returning, even
though Saul knew how much the man enjoyed their card games. L'rian had seen
the look in Saul's eyes as he spoke of the warren's new tailor. A look he
had seen many times in men's eyes, and it pleased him. He'd always felt
that Saul needed to settle down some of his roving ways.

Saul headed to Shawnee's apartment, a dance to his step and a whistle on
his lips.

***

Saul walked into the dining hall with Shawnee on his arm when a vaguely
familiar face caught his eye. He looked back and a grin spread across his
face. Shawnee watched his gaze as it fell on a pretty dark-haired woman
with light grey eyes and olive skin. "Who is she?" she asked quietly,
gently poking Saul in the ribs.

"Roni .." he said. "She's a dancer I met at one of the inns I frequent." He
did not mention the fact that he had spent the night with her at that inn.
But he didn't want to remind Shawnee of his past if he didn't have to.

The dark-haired woman looked up and Shawnee could see recognition cross her
face as her eyes met Saul's. She waved and then stood up.

Both Shawnee's and Saul's eyes widened as she stood awkwardly and moved
towards them, waddling a little as she was extremely pregnant. Saul quickly
did the math trying to remember the last time he had seen her. He breathed
easier as he realized it had been well over a year ago. What was it with
all these pregnancy scares today, he wondered.

"Saul!" the woman said. She gave him a hug and quick kiss on the cheek. "I
was hoping I'd see you here. I see you are as handsome as ever," her gaze
moved to Shawnee, "and that you still enjoy a pretty face."

Saul grinned, "Roni, it's been a *long* time." He stressed the word long
for Shawnee's benefit.

She nodded, "I think the last time was at the Pig's Whistle in Killaglen,
what a year or so ago?"

"Yes," Saul agreed. "I see a lot had changed since then," he said, as he
gaze fell once again on her middle.

She laughed and rubbed her gravid stomach, affectionately, "Yes, I met
Bruno. He's an acrobat with Daimon's Delights. He convinced me to join him.
I danced for a while .. until nature changed that for me."

"How long will you be here?" Saul asked.

"Probably a day or two. It depends on Daimon. He never likes to stay any
one place long." She turned back to Shawnee. "I see Saul has forgotten his
manners, I'm Roni."

"Shawnee."

"It's nice to meet you Shawnee." Roni turned back to Saul. "We'll be having
a show tonight. You will come and see it won't you?" He eyes twinkled as
they pleaded with him.

"You don't dance .. like that, do you?" Saul asked, remembering the very
seductive dance she had done the last time he had watched her. Somehow he
wasn't sure it would have the same effect in her present condition.

She chuckled, "No, I'm not in the show right now. But Bruno is and I'd love
for him to meet you."

Saul looked at her with a raised eyebrow, "You would?"

She laughed again. "Tonight, Saul. Don't forget." Then she turned and
waddled back to her seat.

Saul looked at Shawnee and shrugged non-commitally, "We don't have to go,
if you don't want to." He almost wished she'd say no .. but somehow he
didn't think she would. Daimon's Delights were well-known to put on one of
the best shows around .. though he himself had never yet seen one.

***

Saul and Shawnee were sitting at their table when she walked in. And though
his back was to the door, Saul felt a prickling up his spine. He turned and
was shocked to see a young woman with the strongest dragon affinity he had
ever seen. She walked in with Tanya and Trinale.

Trinale spotted Saul and tapped the young woman, motioning her to follow as
she made her way to where he and Shawnee sat. Saul stood as they
approached. Trinale grinned as she watched the expression on Saul's face.

"Saul this is Aradia." She said, the leaned close to the searcher and said
quietly, "You see it?"

"How could I miss it?" he said in wonder. Then he grinned mischievously.
"Why Trinale, I think even you could see it."

She punched him lightly in the arm for his teasing. He chuckled, "Hello
Aradia, I'm Saul and this is Shawnee."

Regards,
Saul & Fayloth
