K'leev sat tall as he and his partner Daalin headed out on their patrol.
Bruteth was definitely an intimidating sight in the air, and K'leev liked
that. Daalin also had a large dragon, though K'leev did not think that Gust
was anywhere near as impressive a sight as Bruteth. However, Daalin was the
closest thing he had to a friend in Whiteriver. Most of the other
dragonriders tended to avoid him, though he didn't really understand why.
He was sure it was because they were jealous of him.
<Keep your eyes open today, Bruteth,> K'leev told his dragon. <I'm getting
the feeling again today. Things are to calm out here ..>
Bruteth complied as his rider did indeed seem to have a sense about these
things. The last time he'd had this feeling, was the attack which had
caused the death of the then Warrenlady, Deanna.
<Gust says his rider is uncomfortable as well.>
K'leev looked over at Daalin and saw the man eyeing the skies closely. The
two men made an excellent patrol team. There were few men the dragonrider
respected .. but Daalin was definitely one of them. He watched as Daalin
pointed in a northern direction. He nodded and they two turned their
dragons north.
They had continued to fly north and were almost out of Whiteriver
territory, not to far past Killaglen, when they say the grey cloud
descending on a field of grazing deer. Bruteth roared followed immediately
by Gust's roar. Neither Daalin nor K'leev stopped the dragons as they dove
for the small cloud. A group of wraith's attacking a herd of deer would be
easy for two well-trained dragonriders to dispatch.
The wraiths scattered as the two dragons bore down on them flaming as they
went. K'leev chortled in triumph as he watched Bruteth flame one wraith
then another. He had been right. This was a small group and would be easily
dispatched. He watched as Daalin waved at him, also obviously pleased with
the ease of the battle so far.
<K'leev!> Bruteth bellowed, <A young human is being attacked!>
<Where?> Bruteth aimed toward a small figure ducking beneath an outcropping
of rock. When K'leev spotted the figure, he smirked, <Ahh, yes, go Bruteth!
We can't let those things have human blood on *MY* patrol!>
K'leev and Bruteth dove down and began flaming the wraiths attempting to
get at the young boy. Bruteth roared in triumph as he flamed the wraiths.
Then suddenly his roar quieted. <K'leev! Gust has spotted a large swarm
headed this way. His rider thinks they're moving to attack on Killaglen!>
<But they'll pass this way first ..> K'leev said, more to himself then to
his dragon. <Bruteth tell Gust to 'port back to the Warren and alert the
wing. We'll stay and protect the boy. We won't be able to do this on our
own now.>
<Gust says they'll be back as soon as they can.>
K'leev waved toward the sky where he watched as his partner teleported for
help.
Regards,
K'leev & Bruteth

NRPG: Help!! Com'on, you've got to help even K'leev!!
I'll write for Saul soon as well .. but I'll let someone else jump in first
... so jump away :)
BTW, I hope this fits with your plans Bridget. I've had this written for
about a week I think. And put the finishing touches on it last night, while
I waited for Kat's post ;)
