[Derry]

Trinale looked at Derry. "I really am sorry. You were right, I was wrong
and now Ojean and Cill are paying for my mistake." Trinale bowed her head
and looked at the floor dejectedly. "And I hurt you....can you ever
forgive me?"

Derry looked at her, eyes guarded.  "Yes."

It was a simple word that didn't cost much since it was true.  He loved
her, he could forgive her, but his own pain wasn't so easily erased. 
K'leev was a monster and she'd given K'leev more credit than she had him. 
That hurt was not going to go away immediately.

"It's not enough, is it?" Trinale asked is a whisper.  Derry's hands
clenched and then he reached out to take her into his arms.  His own pain
he could take, but not hers.

"It will be."  The conviction in his voice made her look up.  Derry smiled
faintly.  "It hurt, Trinale -- badly -- that you would assume that I was
involved in what happened, especially since I wasn't in the dining hall
when it happened.  It hurt that you thought I was questioning you.  But
it's not enough to make me stop loving you.  I don't think there's much you
could do that would do that, beloved."  He kissed her lightly on the
forehead.  "It will be okay."

"Will it?"

"I think so."
