[DL-W] The Duties of a Warrenlady
by

Trinale stood looking dumbfounded at the closed door after Oldreth left.
Why were these Bear Nomads such frustrating people. Didn't he think that
she got frustrated not being able to go anywhere without an escort? Didn't
he think SHE had wanted to help fight and defend their home yesterday. But
Queens were important for the warrens survival. How was she going to
explain to him?

And if she couldn't, how was she going to explain it to the rest of the
dragons and riders? He would have to train with the wing, so he would best
know how to handle a battle. She sighed. She had hoped he would be helpful
in handling some of the Queerider duties, in order to take some off of
Merrisa's shoulders, so she could spend more time with Oberon. She would
have to talk with him again, to see if he could help out there...that
might keep him out of trouble.

She headed for the med center. She had something there she had to take
care of. Upon arriving she saw she had reached the change of shift and all
three of the main healers were there talking.

"I am glad to catch you all together" Trinale said. "We need to discuss
what will happen now....." Trinale paused with a catch in her voice "Now
that B'ril is no longer with us."

Th'rin appeared downcast at those words, almost not wanting to face the
reality.

"I know everyone will miss him, but we have to go on." Trinale said.
"Th'rin, I am appointing you as head healer."

----------------------------------------------------------------

NRPG: any reaction Kris? Or just leave it be....
-------------------------------------------------------------------

After a little more discussion, Clarissa spoke up "Th'rin, I would like
the night shift if thats alright with you and Xanthia. Its quieter and I
have wanted to switch for awhile, but you had it."

Th'rin nodded. "Its yours then, Clarissa." He then turned to Xanthia "I
guess you are in charge of evenings then."

"I will let all of you sort out the details. I would like to see T'jellan,
please. How is he?" Trinale asked.

"He's holding his own." Th'rin replied.

"Is he going to be alright?" Trinale asked.

"Not sure" Th'rin answered honestly. "He has many internal injuries. Even
if he does, it will be a long time."

Trinale sighed. "All of this death and destruction." Tears came to her
eyes.

She then headed towards T'jellans room. There she found Ashelle sitting
there at his bedside, tears in her eyes.

"I am sorry for disturbing you Ashelle, I will come back another time."
Trinale said.

"Thank you....its the first chance I have been able to see him." Ashelle
said, tearfully.

"I understand" Trinale gave her a quick hug.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

NRPG: Jeanette: you can either continue the conversation or leave it here
and Trinale leaves.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trinale then headed outside. She wanted to look around the warren some
more to see how much total damage had been done.

She heard trumpeting as Derry and Levka arrived.

She ran towards Derry and her eyes widened as she saw him climbing down
from Levka with starts of plants. Tears came to her eyes as Derry
explained what all his mother was sending.

"She is so wonderful!" Trinale grabbed Derry and hugged him tightly. Then
she looked at him, her smile turning into a frown.

"I have to talk with you." Trinale said, pulling him to one of the stone
benches nearby. Th'rin doesn't know how long it will take T'jellan to get
well...if he gets well...and with D'ni gone..." Trinale's voice broke and
Derry pulled her to him. After composing herself she continued "I have
been asking around about the battle, and the conclusion I have come to is
that I would like you to take over as wingleader....at least until
T'jellan is better and can resume his position." She looked at him
pleadingly. And she added as an afterthought "You can pick whoever you
want as your wingsecond...whoever you trust most to watch your back."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

NRPG: Tag, Jill

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Trinale went through the motions at the funeral, but she was having a
difficult time holding herself together. The toasts made, the eulogies
spoken, two of the men whom she had grown up knowing her entire life were
now gone. She only hoped that T'jellan wouldn't be next.

She found Derry. "We need to make an appearance at Ojeans birthday party."
she said softly.

He nodded. "Did you find him something special?"

Trinale nodded and showed him the crystaline dragon she had found at the
glassblowers shop. "He'll love it." Derry said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

After making an appearance at the party and telling Ojean she'd be by to
see his new dragon tomorrow, Derry and her made their way to bed. Cricket
was still up cleaning the hatching cavern and Trinale stopped in for a few
moments, and saw beautiful flowers strung out all around her.

"These are beautiful" Trinale said.

(Wintermoon's rider brought them to me. I like my great granddaughter, and
she has chosen a good human.)

(Your great grandaughter?) Trinale was puzzled.

(Ashai, who was stolen from here when still in the shell, is Wintermoons
mother.)

Trinale smiled at that. She was glad to know that the little egg has
survived and now the circle was complete.

"Time for bed" Trinale took Derry's hand and they headed for their
apartment.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

*Next Morning*

Trinale stopped by the searchling barracks on her way to breakfast that
morning. She had heard Saul ahd brought a new searchling back with him.

She knocked on the door. When it opened, she introduced herself "Hello, I
am Trinale, Warrenlady here...would you care to have breakfast with me and
tell me a little about yourself, Moira?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

NRPG: Rhi, up to you if you ask Trinale about her father...Trinale was
warrenborn so would know him, or her parents would...I didn't do the math
yet...is Trinale old enough to have known him?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a wonderful breakfast with the new searchling, Trinale knew she
needed to tackle the latest problem in the warren...Oldreth.

(Wintermoon, will you please tell your rider that I would like to meet
with him again?)

(He says to tell you he is busy right now...he is teaching Maxima's rider
the ways of his people.)

Trinale groaned...now she would have another Bear Nomad to deal with!

(Will you please inform me when he is free? I do need to talk with him.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

NRPG: Rob, let me know when Oldreth is free...I will write at least part
of the conversation when you let me know when Oldreth witll "deign" to
talk to Trinale. :)
