[DL-W] Everyone wants to help
by

<<NRPG: I wasn't quite sure what was in and what wasn't between these two
posts, so I combined a bit of both. Please forgive me if I screw anything up
:) But I wanted to be sure Elissa was truly written in :) So there are
snips from both Darren's and Barb's posts and my own post written around it.
I love weaving cross posts together, so please bear with me :) Not to
mention that I didn't want to be left out with such a perfect opportunity
for Elissa here (go ahead, call me a sucker for a good story :) >>

Har'son
***
<<Day 1 - Early Evening >>

>"Ashlyn?" The girl looked up briefly. Merissa smiled warmly. "Please, feel
welcome here! Would you like to tell me anything about yourself?"

"I am from Ralengarde." She repeated the introduction Har'son had given as
if that was enough to say. She looked at Har'son who shrugged and she
decided to add some more. "I can weave as well." She looked to Har'son
again, and he shrugged again.

"I see." Merissa shuffled some papers and looked at Har'son, he shrugged at
her as well. "We should perhaps get you two to apartments I guess."

"Sounds like a brilliant suggestion to me." Har'son stood up. "Good Lady
Ashlyn?" He put out his arm to escort her. "Who will be showing us the
warren?"

The warrenlady looked in thought for a moment then looked up. "Elissa, she
is on her way. She'll be meeting you at the Quartermasters. I've got another
person in mind to help also, but I don't know if he's available yet."

Har'son smiled, the name Elissa was very pretty sounding.

Elissa
***

<Elissa, the Warrenlady calls!>

It took the young girl a moment to understand what Patinari was trying to
say. The Warrenlady was dead .. they were having a funeral for her this
evening .. but then of course there had to be a warrenlady. Who would take
over?

Elissa wasn't really used to Warren politics so far, and it took her a
minute to realize it was Merissa who wanted to see her.

She jumped at the chance! Anything that didn't require her sitting in the
spires of the Warren and watching the skies! She was so completely bored
with being on watch duty. No one ever bothered to go up there to visit ..
certainly not J'red. She frowned, unhappy that she hadn't seen him since he
brought her back from Ralengarde.

<I'll get the saddle, Pitty Pat!> She cried and ran to start saddling up the
dragon.

<Chrysthal says we are to meet a rider named Har'son at the Quartermasters.>

<Har'son?> She asked. <Who's that?>

<He's new. But I like his Fourd!> Patinari nearly purred. <They are
searchers, like Fayloth and your sibling.>

<I see.> Elissa shrugged. She still had not forgiven Saul for deserting her,
and he was the last person she wanted to be thinking about. She settled the
saddle on the creamy yellow dragon and tightened it securely. Then climbed
up to head down to meet the new Searcher for Whiteriver.

"I see." The Quartermaster shuffled some papers and looked at Har'son. "We
should perhaps get you two to apartments I guess."

"Sounds like a brilliant suggestion to me." Har'son stood up.

The Quartermaster looked in thought for a moment then looked up. "Elissa,
she is on her way."

Har'son smiled, the name Elissa was very pretty sounding. <Rider, When do we
eat?> His dragon's voice cut in.

*Always hungry. Can you wait until we have a home and I take the few
belongings I have off your back?* He mentally cut back.

<Actually, yes I would mind, in fact I think I will just knaw on the saddle
for a while until I do get something to eat." The fact that dragon's cannot
really laugh does not mean they do not.

*See what you can find about the Rider Elisse, I would like to know a bit
about her. Chat up her dragon, most important, find out if she has a mate
right now.* Har'son turned to see a dark haired girl with deep gray eyes.
*On second thought, nix that request, she is too young.*

<Never stopped you before.> The dragon chuckled again. <It will not keep you
from flirting.>

*Give me some credit, I have some self control.* Har'son listened to the
introductions nodding when needed.

<Want to bet a keg of Ale on it?>

*You have got a bet, scale bum.*

A keg of beer would last his dragon about five seconds, but it could be
almost a whole evening worth of drinking for him. And he was going to make
that green lipped lizard eat his words.

Elissa
***

Elissa smiled politely at both Har'son and Ashlyn as introductions were
made. She watched Har'son out of the corner of her eye as he spoke to the
Quartermaster briefly. He was smooth .. in some ways much like her brother.
Patinari was certainly smitten with his dragon already. But then she was
smitten with just about any new dragon that arrived .. for the first few
days anyway. She did tend to be a bit flaky that way.

She spoke briefly to Ashlyn, telling her some things about the warren while
they waited. The girl took it all in. A heck of a lot easier in fact than
Elissa had when she'd first arrived. Course she'd sorta been dumped into
Patinari's lap and barely had time to take it all in ..

"The Quartermaster says that a rider named Kanler .." Har'son looked at
Elissa, who nodded, letting him know she knew who he was, ".. is coming with
his sister for Ashlyn."

"For me?"

Har'son nodded, "They'll be here soon .."

And sure enough they were indeed. Merissa brought Kanler and his sister to
the Quartermaster's office, which was just down the hall from her own.
Kanler's sister and Ashlyn hit it off immediately.

Kanler
***

"I'm sure you remember my sister Lady Lenasha, Merissa?" he made the
introductions" when they had finally arrived in the Warrenlady's office some
15 minutes after the Queen's first summons.

Merissa nodded, "Of course. It's nice to see you again, Lenasha." She
motioned to the door, "Our new arrivals are just down the hall .."

Kanler nodded and they headed to the quartermasters office, chatting as they
went.

"My sister decided she wanted to come spend sometime with me here, since I
rarely get home anymore.. as she would have you believe," Kanler quipped, as
they stepped into the quatermaster's office. He winked at the young girl in
the room with them, and saw her weak smile in return.

"For a big brother he's all right," Lenasha turned to the girl as if letting
her in on a secret. "But every once in a while you have to remind him that
there's more to life then his dragon. Are you new here in the Warren? I
don't remember seeing you on any of my other visits?"

Kanler stood back and let his sister take over. Lenasha was good with people
and he knew she would soon have the girl a little more at ease. With a
slight nod of his head he motioned Merissa and the other man to step back
and leave the two girls alone for a minute to get to know each other.

"So what happened?" he asked, turning from one to the other for an
explanation.

Elissa
***

Elissa stayed back from events while Kanler took over. She was just glad to
not be on watch duty tonight!

Har'son and Merissa filled Kanler in on what had happened to Ashlyn. Elissa
bit at her lip, she'd not heard the story and for a brief moment she wanted
to run away. What had happened to Ashlyn might have happened to her .. had
it not been for J'red.

She frowned as she then remembered the J'red was ignoring her lately.

Kanler took Har'son to the desk where Elissa had been waiting and watching,
to show him what apartments were available and let him chose.

"If you can't find one tonight then just pick any one you find free right
now and come back in the morning to have a better look," he told the man.

Lenasha
***

"Kanler.... Kanler????"

Lenasha had to call out her brothers name twice before he heard her.

"Yes brat?"

"I take it my usual room is ready for me during my stay here is it not?"
Lenasha asked, imposing a bit of the Ladyship she could be known for in her
voice when she was of mind too.

Kanler turned to Merissa who nodded.

"I suppose it is," he drawled.

"Good then I've asked Ashlyn to stay with me if she'd like while she's here.
you know how big that apartment is and that I hate being alone in it." she
lied with a skill she rarely had to use, but every woman knew.

"So will you Ashlyn?" she turned back to the girl. "Stay with me for a
while, while I'm here visiting my brother?"

Elissa
***

They all met once again in the hallway outside the Quatermaster's office and
then headed out of the warren offices. Soon people began splitting up Ashlyn
with Lenasha, Kanler with Merissa .. and Elissa and Har'son were left alone.

"Umm, did you find a place?"

He nodded, "I don't know, it's a big decision. Any help you can offer?"

She nodded, "Yes, want me to show you?"

"Please." Har'son said. They stood there for a moment awkwardly staring at
each other.

Har'son
***

Elissa smiled a fake smile. "Shall we mount and get up to your new room?"

"I was thinking the other way around." He bit his lip.

"What?" She looked at him as if she didn't hear him.

"Lead the way." He smiled and let her walk by him, shaking his head and
swearing to himself.

He followed and tried to keep his mind on the bet. No flirting, and
definitely no sex.

They glided up to his room and landed on a large ledge. Har'son picked up
his bags and undid the saddle, slipping off the dragon as the saddle fell
off. Walking into the room. "We picked this place because of the size of
your dragon."

"Well you know what they say about the size of a man's dragon?" He walked in
behind her, the place was larger then his place in his old warren. The
kitchen was separate, it had a closet and the bathroom was off to the side.

"No, what do they say about the size of a dragon?" He stopped on his way to
the bathroom, forgetting what he had said, having said it only out of habit.

"They need to eat more." He said turning to face her slowly. "Where can my
dragon feed?"

"The herd isn't far, I will send Patinari to show him." She turned and
looked at the dragons.

<You owe me a keg, Rider.> With that the dragon turned and left with the
yellow.

Elissa turned and smiled at him. "Do you have any questions for me?"

"Would you mind showing me to the dining hall and having something to eat
with me?" He stepped forward and set his bags on the floor.

Elissa
***

Elissa nodded, "Okay." The dining hall was a public place. And one that
J'red might actually come. Course he'd probably still ignore her ..

She glanced at Har'son and he headed back to where their dragons were
waiting to take them to the warren floor. He was rather good-looking .. and
he seemed to be paying a far amount of attention to her. She wondered what
J'red would think of that.

She moved to climb on Pitty Pat's back, mad at herself for even thinking of
J'red. After all he was the one ignoring her. Why should she waste this much
thought on him? She should just go and have a good time and not even think
about him ..

She was determined to do just that, as she slid of Patinari's back and
sidled up to Har'son and took his arm, "This way." She smiled a pretty,
flirty smile at him, and led him toward the dining hall.

Regards,
Elissa

NRPG: I'm going to stop there. I have more to do, but I do have a question.
When will Trinale's Memorial be?? I was thinking it should be on the evening
of day 1 .. but we're running out of time here. Arlene, what's the official
work :)
