[DL-W] Bad Timing

*Day 2, evening, dining hall*
Tarv'renon frowned as he saw Th'rin escape from the dining hall. His
heart went out to his friend and lover. As a friend, he had to make
sure he was okay, so he followed him out onto the green, the wedding
about to take place completely forgotten.
"Damn!" Tarv cursed aloud as he saw the iridescent white female take
off. <Murkash, where are they headed?>
<Areena says the med center, my rider. She says her rider is very
upset.>
<I know, my friend. Take me there. I must go to him.>
The brown landed, and Tarv'renon dismounted and hurried in. Many
young nurses looked at him askance as he questioned them as to
Th'rin's whereabouts.
"In... in the office," someone finally told him.
Tarv'renon wasted no time in hurrying to the office and entered
without knocking.
"Tarv... what are you doing here?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing. You seemed so upset as you
left the dining hall... Th'rin, what is it?" Tarv asked with genuine
concern.
"Merissa... we had a fight, and I left, and I thought... I mean
Areena thought... that the wedding would be the place to make up..."
"And?" Tarv'renon prompted, wondering why his friend had changed his
mind.
"And, well, I thought she'd be as miserable as I am but she wasn't!"
"Come, now..." Tarv'renon soothed. "Why don't you come up to my place
and we can talk about it there."
"I'm needed here... it's Corra's day off."
"Clarissa has things in hand here. Come on, it's time for you to go
someplace comfortable where you can *relax*." Tarv pulled Th'rin
close and kissed him deeply. "And my bed is much more comfortable
than that couch."

*Tarv'renon's Apartment*
It did not take long for the conversation and comforting to lead to
more intimate communications, as it nearly always did when Tarv and
Th'rin were together. As happens when friends and lovers meet, time
soon became irrelevant. Snuggled in each other's arms, emotionally
exhausted and delightfully sated, Th'rin quickly fell asleep.
Tarv sighed and reluctantly disengaged himself as a knock came to the
door. "I'll be right back," he whispered to Th'rin's slumbering form
as he slipped on his robe and slippers. He shut the door as quietly
as he could as he left the bedroom.
***
"Merissa?!?" A wave of panic went through the sensitive rider. He
glanced nervously back into the apartment, hoping that Th'rin stayed
asleep.
"Oh..." Merissa noticed the robe and slippers as well as the rider's
tousled hair, "Were you sleeping? I didn't mean to disturb you. I
just... I need to talk and sort out a few things..."
Tarv hesitated, his mind racing as he struggled to decide what to do.
He couldn't send her away, not without hurting her. It might even
rouse her suspicions. And Th'rin was asleep, wasn't he?
"Tarv???" Merissa questioned.
"Oh, certainly, come on in!" Tarv'renon replied nervously, ushering
her graciously to the couch. "You're always welcome here anytime. You
know that! Can I get you a cup of tea or some hot chocolate? Whatever
is the matter?"
