Day 3

Morning

Dining Hall.



J'red was there nice and early... just to make sure that his "pal" Har'son

didn't renege on his bet of the previous night.   J'red's head hurt and he

was getting tired of waiting. <*Fire, ask Fourd where his rider is,

please?*>

Fourd said.   <He wants to know what is taking so long?>



<Tell him I am getting ready.>  Har'son said back.



<He wants to know what you are doing, it is not like you have that

much to get ready.>  The dragon almost grinned.



He hopped on the saddle and nodded.  Fourd flew down and let him off

outside the mess.  Har'son walked in to get his breakfast, in just

his underwear.

J'red grinned, even though his head was killing him.  But, it had been worth

it!  He stood and greeted the under-dressed rider, loudly.  "Good MORNING,

HAR'SON!  Sleep WELL, Last night?  MY, Did WE FORGET someTHING this

Morning?"

Day 3 Morning



Beta wing had been given their assignment.   Try to locate the source of

contamination of mercury.  He and 'Tonio were headed to the coal mining

areas on the Fowler lands.  They were not along the river itself, which ran

a jagged path through the mountains to the West, yet... could they be

contributing to the mercury through run-off that somehow got into the

watershed?



The first site was uneventful.  J'red recognized the man in charge, though

he didn't know his name straight off.  But the man equally recognized J'red,

Lord Fowler's oldest, and only surviving, son.  He was more than helpful,

and had some young men help collect and label the water samples from the

well and creeks near the coal mine.  'Tonio chatted easily with all the men

at the site, and noted that no one there was suffering any of the symptoms

associated with mercury toxicity.
