Day 5
Morning
Daisy had actually done quite well since coming to the warren earlier that
morning, she'd seen Dragons galore, and managed not to run screaming once!
Rosie had shown her so fast around the warren, that the elder twin had felt
dizzy by the end of the tour. They'd had breakfast at the dining hall, then
Daisy had returned to her sister's room to unpack, whilst Rosie went off to
meet with a couple of the other searchlings.
Daisy hadn't been at all surprised to find that her sister hadn't unpacked
her own things, despite the fact that she'd been here a couple of days now,
and without saying a word of it to her, Daisy happily unpacked all their
things, and tidied the small room - which hadn't really been in need of
tidying in the first place!
Tidying the place, and moving a few things around made it feel a bit more
like home, and although she hadn't noticed, Daisy even started to relax a
little.
~~~~~~~~~~
Rosie was returning home after meeting with the other searchlings when she
saw 'Tonio working out on the green. She stood watching him for a time,
wondering when and where he'd learnt to move like that. She wondered if it
would be part of her training as a dragonrider.
***Snip from Chris' post 'Dutybound'***
He took up a stance outside his apartment, the open terrain
allowing for maximum mobility. He began slowly, moving through a
series of thrusts, parries and ripostes, fencing against an imaginary
enemy. He began moving quicker, through more complicated maneuvers,
remaining as aware as possible of his injury. A few times he gasped
as the cut twinged slightly, forcing him to stop the technique
midway. After about twenty minutes he stopped, sheathing the rapier
with a flourish. It was a light workout, but `Tonio had a much
better idea of where he was on the road to recovery. Glancing about,
he spied one of the twins watching him. Smiling, he bowed, "Good
morning, milady. I apologize, but I do not know you well enough to
know whether you are Daisy or Rose. Please forgive my ignorance."
***End Snip***
"Of course." Rosie said with a smile as she had the good grace to blush at
his having noticed her watching him. "But you should be grateful that it's
Daisy you've encountered, my sister Rosie would have kept you guessing all
day!"
It was going to be so much fun having all these new people to confuse! Back
home, whilst no one - barely even their parents - had been able to tell them
apart, even after sixteen years, everyone was used to their switching, or
sharing identities. Here, it probably hadn't even occurred to anyone yet
that they could even do that!
"It's good to see you you again Miss Daisy" 'Tonio began, having no clue
that he was actually talking to the younger twin. "How're you settling in?"
"I'm settling in very nicely" Rosie grinned, not noticing her sister
approaching from behind them.
"Rosie" Daisy called from behind her, the younger twin's eyes grew wide as
she realised she'd just been caught. "I've been looking for you everywhere -
I'm never going to learn my way around this place."
"Told you" Rosie said to 'Tonio as she winked at him, "guessing all day."
"Hello again" Daisy said sweetly to 'Tonio as she reached her sister's side.
She could sense from Rosie that she was up to something, and judging from
the look on the knight's face, she had a pretty good idea what!
{I don't believe you!} she scolded her sister telepathically, {We've been
here less than five minutes, and already you're up to your old tricks!}
Rosie smiled sweetly as she fluttered her eyelids at 'Tonio.
{Stoppit!} Daisy scolded Rosie again. "Forgive my sister" the elder twin
begged of 'Tonio as she hooked an arm through Rosie's, intent on taking her
away from this situation, "She was just having a little fun."
