[DL-W] Make yourself at home

Xanthia could not conceal the look of utter disappointment that clouded her
face. But she was in no hurry to leave. Perhaps, as he said, 'Tonio would
indeed be back quickly.

She watched the backs of the two men as they stepped out. Tapping her toes
impatiently, she wondered for a few seconds what to do with herself before
rising to her feet. She wandered the apartment surveying the lay of the
land as if she were in the market for a new abode.

She found herself by the bathroom and wandered in. The room was neat and
orderly, unlike that at the apartment she shared with Th'rin and Merissa.
Though, she had to be honest, she was as much to blame for that as Oberon.

The shelf by the bath tub was filled with numerous bottles of richly
scented bath salts, oils, and soaps in a variety of colors. Intrigued, the
petite red-head began opening bottles and sniffing their contents. Her face
screwed up in disgust at some of the more potent floral blends, but she
couldn't help but smile in delight as she came across a lightly exotic
spicy blend, with just a hint of citrus and musk.

<It's been so long since I've been able to enjoy a good long bath!> she mused.

<You know you can bathe at home whenever you want,> Maxima reasoned.

<But, it's so nice and quiet here.> Xanthia plugged the tub and turned on
the water. Then poured a measure of the scented oil into the water.

<Xanthia...> Maxima cautioned, <Are you sure this is such a good idea?>

<'Tonio won't mind!> Xanthia declared decisively as she let her clothes
drop to the ground and set to gathering up a couple of towels and a wash cloth.

Defeated, Maxima scoffed, <Do what you will then.>

The tub now full, Xanthia carefully eased herself into the tub, gasping
slightly at the warmth at first. As soon as she acclimated she slid down,
wetting her hair and body in the fragrant water. She sighed with delight as
she leaned her back against the back of the tub and enjoyed her new found
sanctuary.

"Hello? Milady?"

"In here, 'Tonio!" Xanthia called.

He followed her voice to the bath, and looked at her with bemusement. "I
see you made yourself at home."

"Oh... I hope you don't mind. But, 'Tonio, the water is wonderful! Come in
and see!" Xanthia bubbled with delight.

If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one Life the Aching,
or cool one Pain,
Or help one fainting Robin
into his Nest again,
I shall not live in Vain. - Emily Dickinson
