< Sarilyn and Ilara >

>         "Oh, Sarilyn..."  Ilara stopped with hurt etched into her face,
> that she'd actually tried to turn her away from what was bothering her.
> "It's Carlynee... I'm missing Carlynee," she began.  "There's so much we
> have to talk about, and she isn't here," Ilara sighed, squeezing her

> feelings, but Sarilyn could probably tell how much she cared about the

  Sarilyn nodded as she listened, and thought she understood what Ilara
wasn't saying.  It was like what Billy might feel for another male rider.
But she had the grace not to say it out loud.  Instead, she took the fast
way to the heart of the problem...
 
>         "You worry about her," Sarilyn noted, making a fine point.
> Ilara had folded her arms over one another now, and briefly looked
> distant, eyes darting about nervously.  She nodded at Sarilyn's
> observation.

  What was wrong?, Sarilyn wondered.  Ilara really did look nervous and
almost scared of something.
 
>         "Well, yes... I mean-"  Ilara seemed stuck for words, and
> flushed a faint pink.  "I just got worried suddenly, and had this bad
> feeling all of a sudden."  As if in cue, it returned, giving her cause
> to shiver slightly.  The alarm was instantly visible in her eyes.

>         "I fe... dread," she stuttered.  "Black and... and heavy."  She
> struggled with it, and then it was gone as quickly as it came.

  Sarilyn nodded, and then said the first thing that popped into her head.

  "Do you know where she is?  And can you ride?  Would you like to go and
see if she's ok?  I'll go with you if you like...I'm a fairly good rider."

  Then she smiled and hoped that she might be able to at least help Ilara
feel better...she did look so nervous and tense.
