Veronyca hadn't noticed when D'rel had gotten in the previous night,
she just knew he was there when she woke up.  She found this to be
somewhat of a relief, since she hadn't wanted to attend the funerals
alone.  And D'rel's presence would serve to keep B'lin at bay.  For
awhile, at least.

Veronyca got up quietly and got dressed all in black.  She went about
getting everything ready.  She could tell that Glimmer was upset as
well and this only made her feel worse.  After D'rel awoke and
dressed, the two of them and their dragons made their way down to the
green.  The mood was very somber and by the time the ceremonies were
over and the bonfires lit, Veronyca had tears running freely down her
cheeks.  D'rel, unsure of what to do, held out his arms to her.  She
stepped into his embrace, held him close, and cried into his chest.

"Shhh...calm down Red.  You knew this sort of thing happened.  It
can't be anything new," he said.

"Yes, I knew.  But this is one of the first times I've been faced with
it on this scale.  There shouldn't have been this many casualties..."
she trailed off, still crying but slightly calmer.

"Yes, but just remember that there could have been more.  We did the
best we could with a bad situation.  We could't have done anything
else."  D'rel looked around and noticed B'lin headed toward them. 
"Red, there's another rider headed this way..."

Veronyca looked up and saw him.  "I don't need this.  I'm going to
talk to Rhia, she'll need a ride back to Eos."

D'rel nodded and moved to intercept B'lin.  He was hoping to distract
him from Veronyca by striking up a conversation with him.  "Hello
B'lin."

Veronyca headed over to Rhia, coughing slightly from the smoke coming
from the fires.  She finally got to the WarrenLady and looked back
once to see if she'd been followed, but D'rel looked like he had the
situation well in hand.  She tapped Rhia on the shoulder.

"Rhia, I saw you standing here and I wondered if you'd accept my offer
of a lift back to Eos.  I know you didn't come on your own dragon and
Glimmer can easily carry two."
