CARZUANI'S GUILD (Tailor's, Weaver's, Spinner's, and Dyer's Guild) An extremely ancient guild, one of the first, that derived its name from the patren saint of Tailors and Weavers, Carzuani. The religion that included Carzuani, among other patren saints of various professions has long died out, though many of the names are still in use. The official guild that most closely resembles the current version, originated in Triylar in Daere domain. The guild won't allow any sewing businesses unless the owner's are members of the guild. The guild however, doesn't attempt to regulate sewing or knitting done as a hobby or, in most women's case, because it is a proper thing to do. That would be impossible. People need only to belong to the guild if they are planning to sell their sewing skills for a profit. The guild also acts as a "copyright", protecting clothing and weaving ideas among its members. For this protection, dues are paid bimonthly and drawn designs must be submitted to the guild. The clothing "copyright", or only lasts for four months, but considering the rate fashion changes this is more than sufficient. The weavers don't have a "copyright" since that is impossible. But many weavers have their own technique for getting certain clothes. As members of the guild, weavers are required to teach one other person, usually the successor of the business, and leave written instruction about their techniques with the guild so the knowledge is not lost. Because of this "copyright", or Cazini's Law, as it is called, a person who has absolutely no talent with the needle or loom can be a member of the guild. All they need is a good eye for details and a very good visual memory. It is they who decide if a person is copying another's idea. Another thing the guild does is to post lists of people looking for employment who belong to the guild. Those in the guild looking for apprentices, assistants and such, usually come here first. Most of the more succesful members got started this way. There are no real ranks in this guild, though there are titles, many of which are taken from the old religion afore mentioned. These titles are usually used only by guild members. Occasionally they are taken as sir names and some even take them as their first. For example a dyer might be called Nara Dyer. This is discouraged because it makes book keeping difficult. *A'CAZINI* Head of the Cazini, in the city of Triylar in Daere domain, current A'Cazini, Cazini Orteir Nizu, acts as Cazini for the city and that domain, empty title *CAZINI* Head Administrator of the guild, deals with other guild heads, and decides punishments for those who break Cazini's Law time and time again, what will be done with excess money from dues, Current Ralengarde Cazini, Cazini Ynara Weaver *ZINI* other administrators, handle finances, book keeping, other administrative details to minor for the Cazini, often are retired tailors and weavers. *RUNCA* "watchers" those who manage Cazini's Law and keep weavers written techniques safe and confidential, excellent memory and good eye sight is a must *NIZU* Tailors, dressmakers, seamstresses, ect., people who don't weave, watch, or administor *NARA*Weavers, dyers, and spinners thrown together because the weavers usually do all three Unlike the Bard's Guild or the Healer's Guild, Carzuani's Guild has no real headquarters or training facilities. Traditionally Triylar is the supposed headquarters, but that is really a meaningless title. The guild instead organizes by domain each with its own chosen Headquarters. Daere=Triylar (Traditional HQ for CG) Keldarra=Ralengarde Marrid=Tressa Telnor=Corry Whiteriver=Dunsbro Norwall=Voldora Falagand=Oakenhold Cleft= For every population center, there is a branch of the guild. Each town guild has its own Cazini. That Cazini will report anything of note to the Cazini at the HQ city in that town's domain. That is usually done concerning disputes between guild branches in different towns. So, despite tradition, each domain is like its own country, with the Cazini of that HQ city A'Cazini in all but name. The only real authority the A'Cazini has any more is as the head of the rare Council of Carzuani. This council meets only over matters that affect all the domains in the DragonLands (over matters of the guild and otherwise.) For these meetings, the Carzini of all the HQ cities in DL meet in Triylar and debate over whatever was urgent enough to warrant a meeting. The A'Cazini presides and gets to cast the last vote if a vote is called for. The meetings are so rare that they are much remarked upon. The reason Carzuani's Guild has no training falculties is simply, almost every woman and quite a few of the men are skilled in one way or another at the trades the guild regulates. It is considered proper for a woman of any statis to have some skill at sewing. It is pointless to train people who already know what they are doing. If they want to learn something else, they apprentice.
